When Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik publicly announced his marriage to actor Sana Javed, speculations and rumors immediately surfaced regarding the alleged troubles in his previous union with Indian tennis star Sania Mirza.
The veteran all-rounder took to Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday to share the news of his private wedding ceremony with Sana, known for her roles in various Pakistani dramas and films.
Contrary to expectations, none of Shoaib Malik’s family members attended the wedding event, as clarified by Malik’s brother-in-law, Imran Zafar, in a statement to Geo News.
Shoaib Malik had previously tied the knot with Sania Mirza on April 12, 2010, and although rumors circulated about strains in their marital life, there were no confirmed reports of divorce.
Sources suggest that the separation between Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza occurred due to the tennis star’s dissatisfaction with Malik’s frequent interactions with other women. Despite efforts from Malik’s family to mend the relationship, Sania ultimately chose to pursue a divorce after enduring his behavior for an extended period.
It has been disclosed that Shoaib Malik had maintained contact with Sana for an extended period, and she was experiencing difficulties in her marriage with renowned singer Umair Jaswal. The right-arm off-spinner will continue Malik, in Dubai as per legal arrangements.
Shoaib Malik confirmed his third marriage through his social media accounts, expressing gratitude with an Alhamdulillah (All praise is due to Allah) message alongside a Quranic verse that reads, “And We created you in pairs.”
The former power couple, Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza, had been in the headlines since 2022 following reports of their separation. Meanwhile, rumors circulated about Shoaib Malik and Sana’s divorce, with both individuals choosing to remain silent on the matter, reportedly due to undisclosed agreements. As the public speculates, the true status of their relationship remains unverified.
