Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, reached out to Elon Musk, the owner of X, expressing his dissatisfaction over the spread of rumors about an eagerly anticipated cage fight between the two tech giants, which had been circulating without any prior consultation.
Zuckerberg utilised his newly launched application, Threads, to communicate his side of the story. He firmly denied the accuracy of Musk’s claims surrounding the potential fight, clarifying that he has been prepared for the showdown ever since Elon issued the challenge. The Facebook founder emphasized that he would officially announce a confirmed date only when both parties agree, cautioning the public to treat Musk’s statements with skepticism until then.
Zuckerberg’s statement carried a tone of frustration, hinting at his displeasure with Musk’s frequent updates that appeared to lack substance. It appeared that Zuckerberg was calling out Musk’s claims on Twitter.
Moreover, Zuckerberg also seemed to debunk Musk’s previous assertion that the fight would be held in Italy. Zuckerberg asserted that while he is not counting on Elon’s commitment, he will share details of his upcoming fight on his own terms. He indicated a preference for collaborating with professional organizations like the UFC or ONE to ensure a well-organized and high-quality event that showcases elite athletes in top form.
The fight will be managed by my and Zuck’s foundations (not UFC).
Livestream will be on this platform and Meta. Everything in camera frame will be ancient Rome, so nothing modern at all.
I spoke to the PM of Italy and Minister of Culture. They have agreed on an epic location.

Recently, Musk had reiterated on multiple occasions through his X (formerly Twitter) account that he would be engaging in a physical confrontation with Zuckerberg. He had even specified details like the live streaming of the event on X and Meta, with proceeds intended for veterans’ causes. Musk’s excitement about the bout resonated with fans who eagerly awaited the billionaire face-off.

However, it now appears that Musk may have been making decisions unilaterally without involving Zuckerberg in the decision-making process. This unilateral approach has evidently caused friction between the two tech titans. Zuckerberg’s preference for UFC’s involvement in the fight and his emphasis on proper planning and execution further highlights the difference in their approaches.

While Musk had initially proposed August 26 as a potential date for the showdown, it seems that Zuckerberg received no response to this suggestion. This lack of communication has further fueled the uncertainty surrounding the much-hyped battle between these influential billionaires.
