For many years, GTV has held its position as Pakistan’s second-tier news channel. It once boasted top-tier prime-time talent that propelled it to high ratings. However, with the departures of Amir Mateen and later Rauf Klasra, the channel found itself in search of prominent figures to elevate it among the top five news channels.
In recent developments, the network has secured two significant acquisitions:
Ameer Abbas, a renowned anchor who previously worked with BOL News Network, has joined GTV Network as an anchorperson and Chief Operating Officer (COO). Ameer Abbas stands as one of Pakistan’s most prominent figures in the news industry. With a career spanning over a decade, he has been a leading prime time current affairs journalist. His expertise has been sought after by various channels, including Dunya News, Express, Waqt, Dawn, and Such TV. Ameer Abbas has garnered acclaim and numerous accolades for his substantial contributions to the field.
Another substantial addition to GTV’s prime-time lineup is the seasoned anchor and columnist, Gharidah Farooqi, who was previously associated with News One before joining GTV. Gharidah Farooqi is a renowned Pakistani television host and anchorperson, once a part of Pakistan’s largest media group, Geo News. Her extensive career includes stints at PTV Home, ATV, Dunya TV, Geo News, Samaa TV, Express News, GNN, and Aaj TV. Additionally, she was contributing as a Senior anchorperson at News One. Gharidah Farooqi also lends her writing talents to Indy Urdu, the Urdu version of Independent UK.
MediaBites extends its best wishes to both Ameer Abbas and Gharidah Farooqi in their new roles, hoping that they will continue to excel in keeping the people of Pakistan well-informed.
