The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has declared its intention to countrywide protests against the massive increased electricity bills.
During a seminar held in Lahore, JI Ameer Sirajul Haq criticized both political rivals and the caretaker government, asserting, “The caretaker government is emulating the past administrations by making detrimental decisions for the country.”
Haq also expressed concern over a threefold increase in power bills within a month, citing the severe impact of rising inflation, which has pushed some individuals to contemplate suicide.

He pointed out that nearly every household has received electricity bills exceeding Rs50,000. He affirmed that the Jamat-i-Islami would stage a protest outside the offices of power distribution companies.
Meanwhile, interim Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar used social media to announce an emergency meeting regarding electricity prices and the issue of inflated bills.
He stated his commitment to consult and offer maximum relief to consumers. The prime minister has instructed the Ministry of Energy and power distribution companies to provide a detailed briefing on the matter.
