The US presidential election has entered a critical phase. Just a few months ago, Trump’s victory seemed almost certain. Unfortunately, the Republican Party had no candidate who could replace Trump, making him the popular choice.
On the other side, the Democratic candidate, President Joe Biden, was seen as the weakest contender due to his age, yet no one within the party, except perhaps Nancy Pelosi, had the stature to tell Biden that he was not suitable for a second term.
However, a “blessing in disguise” for the Democrats came when a televised debate took place between Trump and Biden. Trump exploited Biden’s age and used cunning, deceitful tactics, leaving Biden utterly defeated. It seemed as though Trump’s victory was imminent.
Consequently, dissenting voices began to rise within the Democratic Party, spreading even to Hollywood, pressuring Biden to withdraw from the race. Despite the growing opposition and pressure, Biden stood firm, and as the criticism intensified, the onset of COVID-19 provided him a face-saving excuse.
Meanwhile, a strong group within the Democrats, including Obama, sought to play a role, with a growing desire to put forward Michelle Obama as a candidate. However, Vice President Kamala Harris, under the influence of her position, created an environment where all the senior Democrats had to reluctantly support her.
Her nomination and speech at the DNC (Democratic National Convention) created a significant impact, dashing Republicans and especially Trump’s hopes.
A recent assassination attempt on Trump also increased his ratings and solidified his nomination following a successful Republican convention. Nevertheless, the Democrats’ convention broke records and shifted the momentum in favor of Kamala Harris. Now, the question remains: what move will Trump, the master of surprises, play next?
