Matthew Perry, the charming and beloved star of ‘Friends,’ reportedly died of drowning at his Los Angeles home at the age of 54.
Matthew Perry was found dead in the jacuzzi of his home in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles, with first responders arriving after a call reporting a cardiac arrest. No drugs were found at the scene, and foul play was not suspected.
Perry, who battled addiction for many years, wrote a memoir detailing his struggles and numerous rehab visits. He underwent multiple surgeries due to the damage from alcohol and opioid use, and in 2018, he almost died from a gastrointestinal perforation. Perry had shared a final photo on Instagram earlier in the week.
Perry was born in Massachusetts in Aug. 1969. His mother, Suzanne Langford, is a Canadian journalist who served as press secretary to that country’s former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. Perry’s father is actor John Bennett Perry.

Perry had a successful career, most notably as Chandler on the iconic TV series “Friends.”
His addiction issues began during his time on the show, and he made multiple attempts at sobriety.
