In a significant diplomatic move, Pakistan’s interim Prime Minister, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The encounter took place during the Extraordinary Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), primarily convened to address the critical situation in occupied Palestine due to Israeli forces’ aggression in Gaza and the West Bank.
As per a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office on X, previously Twitter, the leaders discussed the dire circumstances faced by the Palestinian people. Prime Minister Kakar conveyed Pakistan’s unwavering support to Palestine, strongly condemning the indiscriminate use of force by Israeli forces, which has led to the loss of over 10,000 lives and forced displacement of Palestinian families. The leaders called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, an end to the Gaza siege, and the smooth delivery of crucial humanitarian aid.

President Abbas expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s solidarity and principled stance on the right of self-determination for the Palestinian people. Both leaders emphasized the need for global collaboration to halt further bloodshed by Israel. They urged the United Nations and relevant organizations to take decisive measures in line with justice and humanity to end the suffering of the Palestinian population.
During the summit, Prime Minister Kakar and President Abbas highlighted the importance of international efforts to bring about a fair and enduring resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. They advocated for the two-state solution, leading to the establishment of a sovereign and viable Palestinian state with Al Quds Al Sharif as its capital, based on pre-1967 borders, as outlined in various OIC resolutions.
The meeting occurred as part of Prime Minister Kakar’s official three-day visit to Saudi Arabia, reinforcing Pakistan’s commitment to diplomatic initiatives for peace and justice in the region.
