The Punjab government has rolled out noteworthy changes to the support system for the families of government employees who pass away while in service.
As of December 7, the Punjab Finance Department issued a notification, outlining adjustments to compensation and job assistance for the affected families. A key revision specifies that widows or children of deceased government employees will no longer be offered employment opportunities.
In terms of financial aid, substantial increases have been implemented in the compensation provided to families across various pay scales.

Here’s a breakdown of the updated figures:
– Families of scale 1 to 4 employees will now receive Rs 5 million, a significant rise from the previous Rs 1.6 million.
– For scale 5 to 10 employees, the compensation has been increased to Rs 7.5 million, up from Rs 1.9 million.
– Families of scale 11 to 15 employees are now entitled to Rs 10 million, compared to the earlier Rs 2.2 million.
– Widows and children of scale 16 and 17 employees will receive Rs 10.5 million, an increase from the previous Rs 2.5 million.
– For scale 18 and 19 employees, the compensation has been elevated to Rs 20 million, previously set at Rs 3.4 million.
Additionally, the notification underscores a substantial boost in compensation for employees at scale 20 and above. In the unfortunate event of an employee’s demise in scale 20 or higher, the family will now receive Rs 20 million, a considerable hike from the previous Rs 4 million compensation.
