In February of this year, Samsung introduced the Galaxy S23 series, featuring an enhanced camera experience. However, some users of the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ have reported a camera blur issue specifically in close-up shots. Samsung has now officially acknowledged the problem on its community page for Europe and has confirmed that a software update will address this issue. The company has also provided an explanation for the cause of the problem and shared some workarounds to prevent blurring.
According to Samsung’s community page, close-up shots taken with the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ may appear slightly blurry around the subject. Samsung attributes this to the bright aperture of the rear wide-angle camera on these devices, which results in a blurred background in photos.
The company assures users that the issue will be resolved through a forthcoming software update.
In the meantime, Samsung has recommended a few temporary solutions to address the camera blur problem on the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+.
Users are advised to take pictures from a slightly greater distance or hold the phone vertically while capturing images. Holding the phone horizontally or at an angle could potentially cause the background to appear blurry.
The Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra were all launched together in February. The Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ share many similarities, including a 6.6-inch full-HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a variable refresh rate ranging from 48Hz to 120Hz. Both models are equipped with Qualcomm’s latest chipset,
the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform, with some modifications for Galaxy devices. In terms of camera capabilities, these phones feature a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 50-megapixel primary wide-angle sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera offering 3x optical zoom. Additionally, there is a 12-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies.
