The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has granted a two-week bail to Imran Khan, the Chairman of the PTI, in a case where he was accused of being involved in the murder of senior Supreme Court lawyer Abdul Razzaq Shar. The decision was made by a division bench consisting of IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb.
Abdul Razzaq Shar was tragically killed earlier this week by unidentified gunmen near Alamo Chowk on Airport Road in Quetta. The lawyer was on his way to the Balochistan High Court when he was targeted and fatally shot, sustaining 15 bullet injuries.
Following the murder, the PTI was implicated and a case was registered against Imran Khan for his alleged involvement. Additionally, a separate bench led by IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq has reserved its judgment on eight bail petitions filed by Imran Khan. Among these cases, six are related to the violence that occurred on May 9, while another involves an attempted murder.
During today’s hearing, Imran’s lawyer, Inteza Panjotha, requested the court to grant his client protective bail for a two-week period. It was highlighted that similar pleas had been submitted by the PTI chairman previously.
After considering the arguments presented, Justice Farooq reserved the decision on Imran’s petitions, stating that an appropriate order would be issued accordingly.
Furthermore, Imran Khan is expected to appear before an anti-terrorism court in the federal capital to seek bail in various other cases.
