Amidst a prolonged economic crisis, Pakistan has implemented import restrictions, resulting in a significant downturn in the car industry. In June 2023, members of the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) managed to sell 6,034 vehicles, signifying a 10% increase from the preceding month. However, this figure also highlights a staggering 79% decrease compared to the corresponding period in the previous year.
Interestingly, despite its high cost, the Toyota Hilux pickup truck has garnered remarkable popularity in Pakistan. Selling 573 units in June 2023, the Hilux secured its position as the third best-selling vehicle in the country for the second consecutive month. It is noteworthy that the Hilux’s starting price exceeds Rs. 10 million, indicating a robust demand for this luxurious vehicle despite the challenging economic circumstances.
