Andrew Dagnell has been named the next editor at Network News by ITV News. Andrew will assume the new role of editor for Network News. He will oversee all award-winning ITV news programmes including ITV News London, ITN’s Tonight programmes, live specials, documentaries, and ITV News London. Andrew also has responsibility for livestream itv.com/news and its award-winning website.
Andrew joined ITV News in 2015. He currently holds the Head of Newsgathering position, where he oversees journalists in the UK and ITV News’ international offices.
Andrew is responsible for some of the most important investigations and scoops in recent years. He has also helped to build ITV News’ reputation of being a source of original and impactful investigative journalism. Stories include the 2021 Washington Capitol Riots, the housing crisis and abuse in British gymnastics. ITV News received a BAFTA and two consecutive RTS Programme of the year awards for his outstanding journalism.
Andrew has held many roles at ITV News. After starting as News Editor for ITV News London in the beginning, he moved to become Home and Foreign News Editor for ITV Network News. He was then appointed Head of ITV News’ specialist reporters.
Andrew was an award-winning journalist from both local and national newspapers before joining ITV News. Later, he worked as a Senior Producer for the breakfast programs Daybreak and Good Morning Britain at ITV.
Following the recent appointment Rachel Corp has been promoted to the of CEO at ITN, Rachel was previously working as the Editor of ITV News.
Andrew’s appointment coincides well with an important time at ITV News. There have been consistently high ratings across all bulletins, and a long-running Evening News program.
According to Reuters Digital News, ITV News had the highest net trust rating of all UK broadcasters in June.
Andrew will start from September 1. and Rachel Corp will take over as CEO.
