The police have reported that a staff member at a Sonic Drive-In restaurant in New Mexico was arrested after losing a bag of cocaine, which somehow ended up in a customer’s hot dog. The accused, a 54-year-old man named Jeffrey David Salazar, now faces a felony charge for possessing a controlled substance, as stated by the Espanola Police.
According to the police, illegal drugs were discovered in a customer’s food at Sonic Drive-In. It was determined that Salazar inadvertently placed the substance in the order while preparing it. Through a field test, it was confirmed that the substance found in the food was indeed cocaine, as confirmed by the police.
The incident came to light when a woman called the police on Tuesday to report that she had found a plastic bag while biting into her food at the restaurant. She expressed concern that some of the powdered substance might have entered her mouth.
According to the arrest warrant, CCTV footage captured Salazar engaging in what appeared to be a hand-to-hand transaction with a female employee. Subsequently, Salazar is seen preparing the customer’s food while appearing frantic and searching the area as if he had lost something.
During the investigation, Salazar confessed to the police that he had purchased the pack of cocaine from someone in the restaurant’s parking lot, as stated in the arrest warrant.
